GRADUATE STUDENTS

The WERC Lab is always looking for students that are enthusiastic about, and dedicated to, the pursuit of knowledge regarding wildlife ecology and conservation. Dr. Jesmer is passionate about graduate student education and mentorship, and is committed to his student’s personal and professional development as well as their physical, mental, and financial wellbeing. For these reasons, Dr. Jesmer only accepts students when he can ensure that Virginia Tech and the WERC Lab are capable of financially support their stipend, health insurance, and research costs. Dr. Jesmer posts fully funded graduate opportunities at the bottom of this page, but is always willing to help prospective students apply for graduate fellowships. UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Undergraduate research experience is critical for helping students explore and development research and professional interests. The Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech regularly announces requests for undergraduate research proposals and Dr. Jesmer happy to work with you on your proposal and advise your during your research project. Please email Dr. Jesmer if you have an idea for an undergraduate project and would like to apply for research funds. For undergraduates not attending Virginia Tech, research opportunities in the WERC lab will be post below. Virginia Tech undergraduates are also eligible to apply for these opportunities.
